The Ivy Centre Way
The Ivy Centre takes a highly personalized approach to college mentoring that integrates three interdisciplinary perspectives into the guidance of each student. We take a structured curiosity approach to mentoring that allows students to follow their passions while leaving room to engage with more practical career paths when appropriate. Often, our goal is to look back as much as we look forward. We believe each student comes to us with a life that is already a culmination of unique experiences, interests, and ways of seeing the world. Our role is to help sharpen that lens and develop a story that only they can claim. In addition to narrative development, we understand what admissions officers look for and incorporate that knowledge into the practical elements of the process, from how we communicate a student's GPA and test scores, to how we think strategically about intended majors. We guide our students through every step of the process and take pride in offering both ourselves and our network as a resource during the mentorship period and beyond.

Understand The Student

We begin with an in-depth interview based on validated psychological measures to understand your strengths and values, as well as your broader interests and the environments in which you thrive.

Explore with Purpose
Through our Structured Curiosity approach, we turn emerging interests into opportunities for exploration. The Ivy Lab brings students together to develop independent projects, exchange ideas, and learn alongside others pursuing their own questions. Through individual project check-ins and group seminars, students take an interest from initial curiosity to something they can investigate in concrete detail.
Students may begin with a broad field, but their projects often lead somewhere specific. Past Ivy Lab projects have ranged from robotics and public health to fashion and creative writing. By the time they choose a major, they have something more promising than a hunch. Namely, experience.

Develop Depth
Once a student identifies an area they want to pursue more seriously, we look backward as well as forward. We consider the experiences, extracurriculars, and perspectives they already bring to that field, then help them identify the more specific niche that is distinctly their own.

Build the Right Application
Apply
As application season approaches, we translate years of development into a thoughtful admissions strategy that captures the students strengths and communicates a compelling narrative.
We work with students to:
- Build a personalized college list based on academic, admissions, and personal fit
- Develop an individualized SAT/ACT and test-optional strategy
- Decide which activities and experiences deserve emphasis
- Communicate less than ideal GPA or test score effectively
- Prepare to secure strong recommendations
- Develop compelling Common App and supplemental essays
- Bring each component together into a cohesive and authentic application that leaves the admissions officer thinking "this student would be an excellent addition to our incoming cohort"

Our job is not complete until we have helped you choose the setting that aligns academically, financially, socially, and geographically, according to your personal priorities, goals and interests.
